As promised, The Killers return today with “Runaways”, the lead single off their forthcoming album, Battle Born. Patrolling with sparkly synths and left-hook guitar punches, the latest offering from Brandon Flowers sees him returning to Sam’s Town with a bounty of stories. “It’s in my blood,” he sings, later stating, “Let’s take a chance, baby, we can’t lose.” Towards the middle, there’s a slight nod to Wendy Carlos on the synths, which adds a rather esteemed wash to this post-2000 arena rock bliss. All in all, a good harbinger of the forthcoming battle.
