Christopher Nolan’s epic conclusion to his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, doesn’t hit cinemas until next week. But today, Empire has an exclusive stream of Hans Zimmer’s rousing score. The acclaimed composer picks up right where he left off with 2008’s The Dark Knight, and although he’s sans James Newton Howard, he’s churning up even more tension with a rather spookier dose of strings, percussion, and bass. Fans of his past work, especially 2010’s Inception, will find solace here — after all, they’ll need it. It’s going to be a long week.
The Dark Knight Rises hits the silver screen on July 20th. The soundtrack itself is due out July 16th via Sony Classical.
