Earlier this week, The Who announced their first tour in four years, where they will perform their classic 1973 album, Quadrophenia, in its entirety. Now, one venue on the tour is offering a sweet deal for some long-time fans that managed to hold on to a tiny piece of cardboard for a long time: it’ll be honoring canceled concert tickets from a show 33 years ago.

As SPIN.com points out, fans still in possession of tickets from the band’s canceled December 1979 show can exchange these rock artifacts when the band plays the Providence, Rhode Island’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center on February 26th, 2013. The original show was canceled by then-mayor of Buddy Cianci after a previous concert in Cincinnati left 11 people dead.

“Somewhere, someplace, someone’s got it stashed,” said venue general manager Lawrence Lepore during the announcement on Rhode Island’s WPRO-AM radio station. “The question is, are they willing to give that up? If they are, we’re willing to take it.”

Fans looking to make ticket exchanges can contact Lepore’s office (more info here). Those tickets will then be donated to help raise money for the Special Olympics of Rhode Island.

Personally I’d rather just keep the original ticket and and just buy a new ticket.
