“A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.” -Willy Wonka
Bloc Party – “Octopus”
Out of all the sports in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games, ribbon twirling (also known as “Rhythmic Gymnastics”) is pretty low on my must-watch list. Something tells me that Bloc Party feels a bit differently.
Blur – “Under the Westway”
Chill out in the studio with Damon Albarn and the boys from Blur in the video for their new song, which was written especially for the Hyde Park 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Celebration Party in London later this summer.
Faith No More covers “Niggas in Paris”
You have to see it to believe it.
Florence & The Machine cover “Hitchin’ A Ride” by Green Day
Who could’ve pegged Florence Welch as such a big Billy Joe Armstrong enthusiast? I wonder where she stands on the Dookie vs. Nimrod debate.
Jack White and First Aid Kit – “We’re Going to Be Friends”
At a recent gig in Paris, Swedish duo First Aid kit joined Jack White on stage for a performance of this White Blood Cells staple. Just when you thought those songs couldn’t get any more awesome.
Justice – “New Lands”
While we’re on the topic, I always thought that the Olympic Games could use a bit more French electronica. Clearly Justice and I are on the same page.
The Shins – “It’s Only Life”
Did you want to find out a little more about that funny-looking bunny creature on the cover of The Shins latest album, Port of Morrow? Judging from the way they carry James Mercer off in this video, it appears that they have quite an affinity for lead singers.
The Tallest Man on Earth performs “Leading Me Now”
Kristian Matsson (aka The Tallest Man on Earth) doesn’t need any fancy production or intricate plot to get across his earnest brand of singer-songriter folk. Simply watching him skillfully fingerpick does the trick just fine.
Twin Shadow – “Patient”
George Lewis Jr.’s motorcycle adventure continues in this new video for “Patient”. This time around, Lewis rolls into your typical subterranean hipster biker bar and gets into quite the scuffle with a rival gang.
The Walkmen – “The Love You Love”
If these spooky black and white shots of a little boy (played by guitarist Paul Maroon’s son Otis) staring blankly into the camera don’t give you chills, you may have ice in your veins.
