Trent Reznor composes theme song for Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Following successful soundtracks for Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Trent Reznor is now focusing his efforts on a video game. According to USA Today, the Nine Inch Nails mastermind has composed the theme song for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which is set to hit shelves on November 13th.
In an interview, Reznor described the music as an “aggressively sounding” piece of guitar, bass and drums-based rock, which plays off the game’s storyline. “There is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface,” he explained. “So it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho patriotic feeling kind of theme song. It has to feel weighty.”
In that same interview, Reznor also an provided update on the debut album from his project How to Destroy Angels. “We have a finished album. It’s been finished for a little while,” he said. “We’re doing a little bit of tweaks on it. The record will be out soon. We are doing a different type of distribution this time so it’s taking a little bit longer to coordinate stuff. There’s a lot of music about to be unleashed, videos, etcetera.”
Finally, Reznor once again confirmed that he’s working on Nine Inch Nail’s first new music since 2008′s The Slip, adding, “Right now, it’s in its gestation period.”
