Last night, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to discuss the band’s new documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits. Two things to take away right off the bat: Only Murphy could make that blinding white suit of his work, and only The Roots could make a Black Eyed Peas song tolerable (“Shut Up”).
It didn’t take long for Fallon and Murphy to gel, and within seconds, the two digressed on LCD’s film, their legacy, and those iconic album covers of theirs. Also, seeing that Murphy was in NBC’s home base, he couldn’t let an anecdote about his missed opportunities on Seinfeld come to pass, or skip a jam session with The Roots. Shut Up and Play the Hits hits cinemas for one-night only on July 18th. Check the film’s official site for theater listings and times.
