Dan Deacon’s live shows are the stuff of legends, frantic dance parties with Deacon acting as minstrel amid a sea of ravenous concertgoers. Now, to further bolster audience participation, Deacon has created an official iTunes/Google Play app that transforms attendee’s phones into just another part of the show.
According to a press release, the Dan Deacon App “turns each phone into a source of synchronized light and sound depending on your location within each venue.” Once the app is activated, applicable smart phone screens will act as a makeshift light show, while the speakers serve as an instrument and the L.E.D. generates a strobe effect. And if this weren’t already a technological marvel as is, the app works without the use of WiFi or cellular data. Watch a preview video of the app below.
To snag your copy, head here for iTunes and here for Google Play. Be sure to use your app during Deacon’s upcoming tour, which kicks off tonight in Cleveland, OH. The outing is in support of his latest album, America, which is out now via Domino Records.
