In preparation for the release of the “unofficial” Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings From Tim Buckley, leading man Penn Badgley (Gossip Girls) recently covered the singer’s version of “Lilac Wine” during a solo gig (the song’s been previously performed by Eartha Kitt and Nina Simone). With guitar in hand, Badgley’s rendition of the Grace cut is surprisingly in-line with Buckley’s mournful croon, a definitive check in the plus column for the film’s overall chances. According to IMDB, Greetings From Tim Buckley is in post-production. The “official” Buckey biopic, starring Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark lead Reeve Carney, is still in limbo.
