As previously reported, Calexico will return with its eighth studio album, Algiers, on September 11th (via ANTI- Records). Back in June, the Tucson sextet offered up a first listen with the moody patrol of “Para”, and now they’ve unveiled a far sunnier preview with “Splitter”. Echoing the sounds of Twin Cinema-era New Pornographers, the uptempo track swells with renegade guitars and light horns — vocalist Joey Burns doesn’t sound too shabby, either.
