Austin garage-rockers White Denim have released two songs recorded during the sessions for their 2011 EP Takes Place In Your Work Space. “Darlene” is a take on ’70s honky-tonk, transforming the genre’s usually-sullen soundscape into something quaint and adorable with an uptempo guitar and howling harmonies. Less joyous, “Gas On F” continues the honky-tonk flirtation, adding in the wail of a arena-rock solo and more deliberate electric keys for a tune in the true spirit of the genre’s depressing worldview.
