prince glastonbury Prince announces Welcome 2 Chicago residency

Following similar stints in New York City and Los Angeles, Prince will descend on Chicago next month for a multi-date residency at the United Center. The aptly titled “Welcome 2 Chicago” will begin on September 24th, and marks his first shows in the city since 2004.

The residency will also be used to support Rebuild the Dream, the organization founded by Van Jones that seeks to “build strong vibrant communities and to fix our economy from the ground up.”

On site at the United Center, Prince and Rebuild the Dream will offer opportunities to learn about, support, and take part in rebuilding vibrant and sustainable communities. Socially-conscious businesses, tech start-ups, entrepreneurs, and other innovators will offer specific tools that individuals and communities can use to improve their economic situation in the short- as well as long-term.”

Tickets for the September 24th show will go on sale beginning September 6th. Additional shows will be announced shortly.

Awesome shows to look forward to with a massive band including an 11-piece horn section, but why is Carolina not mentioned in the list of previous concert-areas?

HE was amazing in New York last year——I was in the third row, fresh out work and danced and sang so much my seat neighbors asked if they cold take a pic of me! They’d dressed up as Raspberry Beret/Vanity 6 women. He was awesome!

If you stay in contact with him, maybe you can find out why his background singer, Shleby J, who is very talented, is mainly working as a crowd flunkee, shouting “Put Your Hands Up,” sometimes over 100 times a night. After 2 or 3 times, it gets old. Around 100, it is ridiculous for someone as talented as Prince who doesn’t need somebody to hype up the growd.

It is sad that you do not recognize talent. Pay attention this time. The entire band is awesome. I am sure Prince would not have it any other way. Let’s support! Positive vibes please!
