New Music: Paul Westerberg – “My Road Now”

By Michael Roffman on September 21st, 2012 in New Music, News

Well this is unexpected: The Replacements’ Paul Westerberg returns today with his first solo recording in two years. (That is, if you don’t count his work as Mr. F back in 2010.) Titled “My Road Now”, the piano-led track finds Westerberg patrolling the same Minneapolis neighborhoods he haunted with The Replacements, working off that same bitter soul we all love. “This is my road now, and you can hit it, honey,” he sings. “Hit it like I owed you a whole lotta money.” Stream it below (via The Current).

At the end he spits out, ”Got through that one.” No telling what’s in store for the future — after all, we’re still waiting on that box set and that Slim Dunlap benefit track with Tommy Stinson  – but we’ll keep you updated.
