Hailing from Deland, FL, indie-folk rockers Roadkill Ghost Choir today release their debut EP, Quiet Light. The five-track effort came to life after vocalist/guitarist Andrew Shepard concluded he needed a full band to bring his music to the stage. Brothers Maxx (drums) and Zach (bass) joined the sextet along with Joey Davoli (keys/trumpets/vocals), Stephen Garza (guitar/voals), and Kiffy Myers (pedal steel/banjo). Thus formed Roadkill Ghost Choir, and with the help of producer Dave Plakon, the band’s blended Americana influences are canned on this debut.
Every member’s contribution puts a shine on another’s, all working together to give Andrew’s Jim James-esque voice a smooth-yet-twangy road to ramble along. Standout cuts like “Beggars Guild” and “Drifter” are driving folk numbers that showcase a taste for Wilco as well as Fleetwood Mac. Elsewhere, you can just about feel Radiohead under “Devout”, a mark of Roadkill Ghost Choir’s “impish edge with broad appeal.”
Quiet Light is available digitally via Bandcamp. You an also stream it in full below.
In support of the EP, Roadkill Ghost Choir will tour through the eastern U.S. Their schedule is below.
