Sufjan Steven’s love of Christmas is well documented. From 2001 to 2006, he released five separate EPs of Christmas songs and carols. He also recorded a cover of “Silent Night” and an original called “Barcarola” with The National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Arcade Fire’s Richard Parry.

Now, as Pitchfork points out, Stevens appears set to release even more holiday tunes. He recently created a Tumblr, named it “CHRISTMAS IS COMING” and then “ADVENT OF THE APOCALYPSE”, and filled it with .gifs from Christmas horror movies like Silent Night, Deadly Night and Black Christmas.

What’s more, teenage Tumblr-Wave rapper Kitty Pryde recently wrote on her Facebook, “just finished my christmas song for sufjan stevens………………..(:” Holy. Shit.”

While we wait for more details, take a listen to Stevens’ rendition of “Joy to the World”.

Supposedly Sufjan records a christmas album and gives it to friends every year. There’s an unreleased/leaked Volume 8 floating around the Internet from a year or two ago. Wonder if we’ll ever see Vols 6 or 7?
