Azealia Banks – “1991″
Azealia Banks’ latest video takes obvious inspiration from Vogue-era Madonna, copping the Material Girl’s all-black getup and sophisticated poses.
The Black Keys – “Little Black Submarines”
Never have I wanted to be in a ratty Nashville dive bar so badly. Try not to think of this video when you’re sitting alone at your local watering hole this weekend.
The Cribs – “Anna”
This new video from The Cribs flashes tour photos in quick succession. The effect is the same as when you rapidly flip through a friend’s Facebook pictures.
David Byrne & St. Vincent – “Who”
I imagine David Byrne & St. Vincent perform those exact dance moves together before they enter the studio to get themselves pumped up.
Ellie Goulding – “Anything Could Happen”
When most people go to the beach, they pack a towel, sunscreen, and maybe some sunglasses. Clearly, Ellie Goulding is not most people. She opts for floating metallic orbs and blood soaked lovers instead.
Green Day – “Kill the DJ”
Green Day’s latest clip is essentially two videos in one. The first portion shows the band riding motorcycles in the desert, then inexplicably cuts to a club scene/dance party. It’s called continuity Billie Joe, ever heard of it?
I can think of no better visual representation for a Mount Eerie song than a bunch of cloudy, pastoral VHS clips edited together in one three minute loop. If anything’s going on in Phil Elverum’s mind, this is surely it.
Muse – “Madness”
Forget the riots, SWAT team, police dogs, am I the only one that wished that the super cool touch-screen guitar got a little more screen time? If Muse aren’t careful, that may become our generation’s version of the keytar.
