In the music video for “Modern Times”, RNDM (the new group comprised of Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur, and drummer Richard Stuverud) shuck off their individual looks and embrace one defining aesthetic. Specifically, the trio shave their heads into mohawks (Ament’s dad’s a barber, so he’s handy with the shears) and wear orange jumpsuits and masks before rocking out hardcore-style on a Brooklyn rooftop. Though pumpkin-esque, it’s actually the perfect look for their hybrid sound: a herky-jerky blend of punk and Southwestern blues as bizarre as their costumes are irritatingly neon. Watch the video below.
The band’s debut album, Acts, hits stores on October 30th via Monkeywrench Records/RED.
