xx jools Video: The xx, Muse, and The Beach Boys on Later with Jools Holland

Earlier this weekLater… with Jools Holland returned for its 41st series, starting off in style with performances by The xxMuse, and The Beach Boys. Tonight, the BBC aired its extended episode with even more cuts from each band.

Friday’s new performances included The xx’s “Sunset” and “Chained” off Coexist; Muse’s “Supremacy” off The 2nd Law; and The Beach Boys’ “Isn’t It Time” off That’s Why God Made the Radio. And to think, your parents used to spend Friday evenings with Crockett and Tubbs on NBC. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Watch each replay below.

Sigh… No, the “expanded” episode is actually the *regular* one that has been airing on Friday evenings for years, with a running time just under an hour. However, in recent years (since 1 April 2008 in fact) they have been doing a 30 minute LIVE broadcast on Tuesday (the night “Later…” is usually taped) that is broadcast at 22h UK time, which takes places after the actual taping of the show which is broadcast on Friday evening. One show is called “Later Live with Jools Holland”, the other one “Later… with Jools Holland”.
