“The 1608” is the name of the custom guitar created by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Master Luthier Gordy Bischoff and which was made with original white oak wood from Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrels. The Bushmills angle was no coincidence, the result of Vernon’s marketing deal with the company, but the proceeds from the guitar’s sale will benefit a good cause. From Monday, October 22nd to Friday, November 2nd, “The 1608” will be up for grabs through an online auction to benefit The Confluence Community Arts Center, which is located in Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. “The goal is to put art back on the map in Eau Claire,” said Vernon.
