Jack White’s bucket list keeps getting smaller. Despite being in the industry for over a decade, and hanging out with the likes of Jay-Z, he’s only now crossing off “rapping” Yes, “Blues on Two Trees”, the B-side to his forthcoming 7″ single “I’m Shakin’”, sports a deep-fried Mississippi gumbo of distortion, which White urgently spits rhymes over. Call it prophetic or just great timing, but a line like “Three trees lying on the side of the road/ One tree barks, ‘Where the hell do we go?’” is far too haunting to ignore. It begs the question: Shall we call the next hurricane Jack? Throw on a raincoat (if you haven’t already) and decide for yourself below.
