While The Strokes figure their fifth album out, frontman Julian Casablancas might go ahead and dabble in the film industry. Of course, that depends on his fans. As The Strokes News reports, German filmmaker Anja Marquardt is trying to raise $50,000 to produce a film titled She’s Lost Control, and if she hits that number via Kickstarter, the shaggy haired singer will help out the film’s composer Simon Taufique.
The independent film follows a woman in New York City named Ronah, who “teaches men how to be intimate and make love.” As Marquardt writes on the Kickstarter page, “Intimacy is one of the hardest things to learn in life and it is becoming increasingly challenging in our modern, technologically-driven society. Ultimately, She’s Lost Control is a story about compassion and reaching out to other human beings.”
So far, they’ve raised $11,633 from 116 backers. If you’re worried this all might be hearsay, check out the campaign’s short video, which features a cameo from Casablancas himself. Then go ahead and make a donation yourself. On a related note, does anyone want to strike up one of these to get the guy to follow up 2009′s Phrazes for the Young or to do something? Sh’yeah.
