Beastie Boys’ Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz has contributed music for a short film titled Off the Rails (via The Daily Swarm). Presented by The New York Times, the film accompanies a recent expose on the Amtrak line that connects New York to DC, specifically the economic patterns that have emerged around it.
“You can see all the economic change of the last century — the good and the very bad — right along the Amtrak raillines that go from New York to Washington, DC,” the narrator states in the short film below. “You pass by eight of the 10 richest counties in America and you go through half a dozen of its broken, most dangerous cities and everywhere, one way or another, there are people finding a way to make a living.” The breezy, five minute film is available to stream below.
In related news, Horovitz will make a rare appearance at Los Angeles’ Largo at Coronet on December 2nd for what’s being billed as: “Ad Rock Presents And Performs With His Friends & NYC Sensation Bridget Everett.” According to the venue’s site, it “will be a great night of music and comedy on Largo’s intimate stage.” The show has since sold out.
