In “Jules and Jim” off this year’s The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, Nada Surf frontman Matthew Caws compares himself to the three protagonists of the 1962 French new wave classic film Jules et Jim. For the song’s video, director and animator Rachel Chaiya Blumberg takes inspiration from the same source. Months of work on both sides of the country – Arch Cape, OR and Providence, RI, specifically – resulted in the stop motion clip below. Though the characters are just a few inches high, any full-sized individual can feel for their tormented love.
Nada Surf has also announced a fresh leg of dates to close out the year. Included on the itinerary is a stop at Chicago’s Metro on December 8th, where the band will take part in Consequence of Sound and Miller Lite’s second entry in our Top Note Sessions live series. Twenty-three dollars will get you drinks, grub, a copy of The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, an exclusive meet-and-greet and acoustic set, plus entrance to the main Metro gig. You won’t want to miss this, so find more information here.
