Asheville, NC’s Moogfest is being renamed and rebranded. The festival’s promoter AC Entertainment announced the news today, citing Moog Music Inc.’s decision not to re-license the Moogfest name.
The festival’s new name is Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, and festivities will continue to take place in Asheville. However, as AC Entertainment CEO Ashely Capps explains, “We’re taking this opportunity to rethink the event a bit and challenge ourselves. While we are still focused on Halloween weekend, that time of year has its difficulties and we’ve been encouraged to consider other options. This part of the world is a very special place – hence the name, Mountain Oasis. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and there’s so much more to explore.”
Additional details for the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit will be released in 2013. In the meantime, revisit our coverage of Moogfest 2012 here.
