North Carolina’s country folk group Mount Moriah will release their second album, Miracle Temple, on February 26th via Merge Records. In a press release, the band says they were striving for a bolder sound than their 2011 self-titled debut, a shift apparent in the lead single “Younger Days”. Bolstered by crisp guitar lines, a warm organ, and frontman Heather McEntire’s winsome vocals, the track pleads and yearns. But its emotionality doesn’t pour out so to speak — it’s tucked slightly into McEntire’s words and phrases — and it’s that restraint and concealment which make the song come across all the more powerful.
