Paul Westerberg sings “Away in a Manger”

Paul Westerberg isn’t the most ideal candidate for Christmas caroling, but he does his best on “Away in a Manger”. The holiday rocker, originally off his 2009 digital EP D.G.T., keeps things DIY with sludgy mollasses-covered distortion and paint can drumming that sounds like it was stripped from a high school band’s basement sessions. It’s almost impossible to hear Westerberg, too, but those in need of a fix should make do. Stream it over at Minneapolis’ The Current, who says Westerberg sent it over with the intention of it being a holiday gift. How nice. Now, c’mon Paul, where’s that Replacements EP?
