Rick Ross cancels concerts due to gang threats
Fiona Apple cancels dates because of her sick dog. Amanda Palmer cancels dates because of her sick friend. Rick Ross cancels tour dates because people threaten to kill him. As Billboard reports, Ross has nixed two shows scheduled for North Carolina this weekend after a series of threats issued by the gang called Gangster Disciples.
According to local news outlet WCNC, the Friday and Saturday night shows in Greensboro and Charlotte were called off after Ross received death threats from the gang. The Gangster Disciples’ North Carolina and Florida branches have both recently released videos warning the Maybach Music head, including the lyrics “We Maybach killer” and demanding a “check cut.”
The gang claims beef with Ross for his reference of their imprisoned leader, Larry Hoover, in the 2010 track “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)”. More recently, Ross featured a Star of David on his The Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape cover, a symbol similar to that used by the Gangster Disciples.
Meek Mill, Wale, and Machine Gun Kelly were also due to appear at the shows. As of now, Ross’ Sunday night gig in Nashville, TN will go on as planned.
