As previously reported, metal overlord Ryan Adams contributed “Shine Through The Dark”, originally off last year’s Live From Nowhere Near You: Vol. II charity compilation, to Judd Apatow’s new film This Is 40. For the occasion, Adams actually reworked the track substantially, adding a livelier guitar part and the warmth of oversized organs to really make this ditty shine like a true folk-pop gem. Stream it now at EW.com.
The soundtrack also features tracks from Fiona Apple, Wilco, Paul McCartney, and The Avett Brothers, along with pieces of a score written by Jon Brion. It hits stores on December 11th via Capitol Records and pre-orders are now ongoing. The film itself premieres in theaters on December 21st.
