Seeking to escape the urban confines of his native Buffalo, NY, Kyle J. Reigle found inspiration from the woods near his home. As Cemeteries, Reigle draws a gothic dream-pop sound out of that dark and twisting wilderness; hence, the title of his latest release on Lefse Records is The Wilderness. ’80s b-horror films serve as additional influence on not only the songs but the accompanying videos as well.
The clip for “Young Blood” is a prime example. A young gent walks about appearing slightly bewildered. It’s hard to say where he is with only a projector casting light through the trees and onto the walls. He reaches out as if he can grab the distorting colors. He reaches out towards a house, perhaps his home, though he never seems to be able to get to it. It’s grainy, a bit eerie, and very vague. Check it out below.
