Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players set live debut
To coincide with the premiere of his directorial debut Sound City, Dave Grohl has formed a new live band. According to a press release, Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players will feature core musicians and special guests from the film. They’ll make their debut on January 18th at Park City Live as part of the Sundance City Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Speaking to RollingStone.com last month, Grohl said he hoped to accompany screenings of the film with a star-studded concert. “After each premiere we could have a show with musicians,” Grohl explained. “They’d not only play music from the film, but from their catalogs as well. We could do it in a Hammerstein or Roseland and pack the bill with the coolest bands in the world . . . We aren’t far away from this. Pretty soon, everyone will hear what our big plan is. We’ve been planning it for a long fucking time.”
The Sound City soundtrack is due out March 12th via Grohl’s own Roswell Records, and pre-orders are ongoing
