The Dirty Projectors cover Usher’s “Climax”

Maybe initially this is an “um, what?” moment, but The Dirty Projectors actually offer a dutiful homage to the R&B powerhouse Usher on Australia’s Triple J show “Like a Version”.

Some common threads: Usher and The Dirty Projectors both in some form worked with Diplo, who produced Usher’s hit 2012 single “Climax” also worked with Amber Coffman on the Major Lazer song “Get Free”. And, if you tease out a Dirty Projectors song a bit, like Solange did, you’ll find there’s deep currents of R&B running through their compositions. And honestly, Dave Longsthreth and Usher’s voice have more in common than you’d think. Check out the cover below.
