Jack White’s Blunderbuss is not just your favorite album of 2012. It’s also the best-selling piece of vinyl in forever — or, at least since Soundscan began specifically tracking vinyl sales in 2008. Blunderbuss sold over 33,000 copies since its release in April 2012.

This is the most misleading headline I have ever read. (I only started keeping track of misleading headlines yesterday.)

I don’t think so. There’s no data beyond 2008. It could be the best selling album since 1988 for all we know!

And that means you don’t know for a fact that it’s be most selling vinyl in “forever”, which is what the title is stating. You do know for a fact, though, that it’s the most selling vinyl since 2008. Thus the title is wrong.

On another note, I think it’s a brilliant album and deserves this :)

I was joking. However, the story is misleading. What you mean to say is Blunderbuss had the best single year sales for a new release since 2008.

Billboard reported that in 2011 Abbey Road sold 41,000 copies on vinyl. Does that factor into “forever?”
