The Cribs wax nostalgic with the long-sought-after studio version of “Leather Jacket Love Song”. The track has been a staple of the band’s live show, but is only now seeing release through the band’s forthcoming singles compilation Payola, due out February 25th via Wichita Recordings.

“It’s typical love song, like a lot of our songs,” frontman Ryan Jarman told NME. ”We wrote it after we finished (2009’s) Ignore The Ignorant, so it’s the last song with Johnny (Marr) on it. It never got released, despite the fact that everyone loved it, because we made a fresh start with (In the Belly of the) Brazen Bull. It’s a three-minute punk rock song, typically Cribs-y.” Take a listen at Johnny Marr Plays Guitar.

The 22-track Payola features songs taken from each of the outfit’s five studio albums, and the deluxe edition includes a second disc of 18 B-sides and rarities.
