Lollapalooza halts expansion to Israel
According to the Los Angeles Times, Lollapalooza organizers have halted plans to expand the festival to Tel Aviv, Israel. The inaugural Lollapalooza Israel was to take place August 20-22 at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park. However, the Times reports that organizers had ” ssues recruiting top-billed artists in addition to facing financial and production setbacks in setting up the festival in Yarkon Park.”
A Lollapalooza spokesman reportedly characterized this as a postponement and not a cancellation, though the festival’s website is no longer active.
Lollapalooza will still hold festivals in Santiago, Chile and São Paulo, Brazil this Spring, followed by a proper Chicago installment in August.
