On the Friday before the Grammys, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences will honor Bruce Springsteen as its 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year. As RollingStone.com reports, the gala will features performances from a number of Springsteen’s longtime friends and collaborators, including Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Patti Smith, and Sting, as well as Mumford and Sons and Alabama Shakes. The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart will MC the festivities.

The MusiCares Person of the Year award honors musicians for their artistic achievement in the music industry and dedication to philanthropy. Past recipients include Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Bono, and Stevie Wonder.

This year’s gala takes place February 8th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Tickets are long sold out (not that you could afford them anyway) — so you’ll once again have to rely on YouTube.

This is awesome. Heard Mumford and Sons’ “Lover of the Light” on Spotify’s College 101 Playlist: A+ of 2012. So good. http://open.spotify.com/user/myplay.com/playlist/0VkhN48djiq7VMzTc2nuZ9.
