New York City surf pop outfit Beach Fossils has excavated the second single off their forthcoming sophomore album, Clash the Truth, due out February 19th via Captured Tracks. The very Slurpee-searching “Generational Synthetic” sounds stripped out of a Kids in the Hall vignette, or something looming on the dashboard of a ’67 Thunderbird convertible. Its sandy rhythms keep the band’s name alive, though that grappling hook of a bassline appreciates the sprawling night just as much. As the band’s singer-songwriter Dustin Payseur told The Fader of the new album: “I wouldn’t say it’s darker, it’s just more honest, more real.” Stream below.
