Video: Foxygen – “San Francisco”

By Jeremy D. Larson on January 8th, 2013 in Music Videos, New Music, News

The young guys and girl of Foxygen are wont to dig up the past. Their debut LP Take The Kids Off Broadway came stuffed with Jaggerisms and Bowieisms, and for their official debut, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, they really seem to be just that.

Following the first single from the album, “Shuggie”, ”San Francisco” takes that old Scott McKenzie tune, triple filters it through The Byrds or The Mamas & The Papas, and brings all the magic crystal and hippie flower power back to the fore. “I left my love in San Francisco,” croons Sam France, only to to get a loving hand on his shoulder with the reply: ”That’s okay, I was born in LA.” Check out the lolling track in the video below.

We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic is one of our most anticipated albums of 2013, and it’s out January 22nd via Jagjaguwar. Pre-order a copy here.
