On the eve of their first headlining tour in eight years, post-hardcore favorites Hot Water Music released their new CD/DVD combo Live in Chicago through No Idea Records. Recorded over a two-night stand at Chicago’s glorious Metro in February 2008, the CD comprises 30 songs handpicked by the band.
The DVD, on the other hand, features the 24-song set from night two, including performances that didn’t make it onto the CD component. “Paper Thin”, off 2001’s A Flight and a Crash, isn’t exclusive to the DVD, but watching the performance certainly packs more of a wallop than an ears-only experience. Just watch that camera in the back of the crowd try to stay steady as the audience goes absolutely nuts.
You can purchase the 2-CD/DVD combo, or the 3xLP limited edition colored vinyl (six colors pressed at 550 runs with matching colored logo on the cover) at No Idea’s website. You can also stream the 90+ minutes of audio over at RollingStone.com.
