Recently, Iron and Wine‘s Sam Beam stopped by Austin radio station KUT to perform a long, intimate acoustic set, during which he debuted two new songs.

“Caught in the Briars”, whose folkier leanings hearken back to Beam’s earlier work, is the opener off his recently-announced album Ghost on Ghost. Watch him play it below, backed by mandolin.

Another sparse offering called “The Waves of Galveston” — which will not be on the new LP — can be streamed and downloaded via KUT.

Ghost on Ghost, Iron and Wine’s fifth album, comes out April 16th via Nonesuch Records/4AD.
