Psychedelic rocker and Ty Segall pal Mikal Cronin will drop his sophomore album and Merge Records debut, aptly titled MCII, on May 7th. Recorded at San Francisco’s Bauer Mansion, the album features appearances by guitarist Ty Segall, violinist K. Dylan Edrich, drummer Charles Moothart, and slide guitarist Petey Dammit.
“Since the first record came out, my life has changed quite a bit,” Cronin explains in a press release, referencing his move to San Francisco and his work alongside Segall. “I was presented with a whole new slew of problems and situations that I was trying to work through.”
In anticipation, he’s previewing the album with the Van Morrison-leaning “Shout It Out”, which is a light affair that sees Cronin asking a multitude of questions, specifically: “Do I shout it out? Do I let it go? Do I need to know what I’m waiting for?” Well, we do, and so far it sounds pretty swell. Stream it below.
