Divine Fits the super group comprised of Spoons Britt Daniel, Wolf Parades Dan Boeckner, and New Bomb Turks Sam Brown captured our hearts last year with “My Love Is Real”, a gem off their debut record, A Thing Called Divine Fits. While we’re remaining fully committed to the original’s moody rays of new wave sunshine, Brooklyn DJ/producer Kingdom is tempting our loyalty with a rather intriguing remix.
Kingdom, whose previously reworked Sleigh Bells, Lil Wayne, Ciara, and more, flips the track on its head. With thick, echoey drums keeping time, gone is the cheery rumble of the original’s vintage synth line, replaced by mechanical-sounding keys more reminiscent of Harold Faltermeyer than Modern English. Still, even with a fresh coat of German synth-pop slathered on, the song’s quirky sense of romanticism still shines through. Stream it below.
