Kansas City’s The ACBs play harmony-rich pop that could have easily been a hit on the ’50s and ’60s AM radio dial. Their latest single “Television”, off their sophomore album Little Leaves, exemplifies that very sound with its groovy surf-rock guitar, high-energy drum groove, and walls of shimmery melodies. It’s an almost timeless, ageless blend that transcends eras to move young people off their seats and onto the dance floor.
And speaking of things that can never fade or die, the band have somehow found themselves transformed into zombies in the accompanying video. Directed by Brook Linder (SSLYBY, Free Energy), the clip’s grainy look is inspired by the grindhouse cinema of the ’70s. But even with the R-rated aesthetic, the undead quartet’s intentions remain PG, happily focused on playing a gig even as they rot and decay in front of our very eyes. Little Leaves is due out March 5th via High Dive Records. For more from the LP, be sure to listen to the previous singles, “Ocean” and “Record Store”.
