One of our favorite songs of last year, the sticky, ubiquitous hit by Carly Rae Jepson “Call Me Maybe” is, in all fairness infinitely mash-up-able. There’s a pretty good Childish Gambino version, a decent Calvin Harris version, and an ingratiating Psy version. But this new version making the rounds today is the far and away best in its simplicity, disparity, and seamless execution. Bow down before the one you serve (in this case it’s SoundCloud user pomDeterrific).
By splicing just vocals from Nine Inch Nails’ Pretty Hate Machine single “Head Like a Hole” and the bubblegum beat of “Call Me Maybe”, it somehow switches the key of Reznor’s vocals into the most disturbing major-key pop song. Get in several listens below (via The Verge).
