Florida’s alt-folk outfit Hundred Waters has been taking full advantage of Skrillex’s contacts in the electronic community since signing to the dubstep poster-child’s OWSLA label (you’re welcome). Last summer, they celebrated the new relationship with a remix EP for “Thristle” featuring the likes of araabMUZIK and Star Slinger. Today, OWSLA releases another collection of remixes, this time for the most recent single off Hundred Waters’ self-titled debut, “Boreal”.
The album version of “Boreal” bubbles in a hail of synthetic shimmering, like a digitized moon dancing over pixelated waves. Brillz fills that ocean with familiar quirks of dubstep, spilling it out onto a gel-lit dance floor. Phantoms gets lost in the swirling current and nearly doubles the length of the track. Meanwhile, Daedelus builds up some computerized haze that resonates in and out over some rocky seas. Check all these tracks, plus remixes from Blood Diamonds and Teebs, below.
