Reznor NIN documentary

In the lead up to the band’s reunion (?) tour, Trent Reznor has launched a Nine Inch Nails Tumblr and has been sharing a series of rare photos from throughout the band’s iconic history. (I’m seriously considering making this one of Trent and Dave my new wallpaper.)

Over the weekend, Reznor posted two videos, highlighted by a rarely seen documentary of Nine Inch Nail’s “Self Destruct” tour. As Spin notes, the 75-minute film was previously only available on the 1997′s Closure VHS, and includes cameos from David Bowie and Marilyn Mansion. It’s also NSFW.

The other video is in the form of an acoustic performance of “The Becoming”, which originally appeared on Still, the bonus companion to 2002′s live album, And All That Could Have Been.

In related news, Reznor recently spoke to NME about Nine Inch Nail’s forthcoming world tour. “The intention is to reconstruct songs based on this new instrumentation and only play songs we as a band feel good about,” Reznor explained. “With Nine Inch Nails last time, I felt that I’d explored that kind of bludgeoning rock thing in a lot of different ways, like I’d done everything I could do with that format.”

Reznor also revealed that the band’s forthcoming greatest hits album could contain “a couple of tracks” he’s worked on with King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew. However, the release likely won’t surface until 2014.
