Maybe it’s a good thing that cultural ambassador thing didn’t work out, because Andrew W.K. has bounced back with an even better gig: spokesman for Playtex. And the imagery associated with I Get Wet irrevocably changes… now!
Yes, the feminine sanitary products manufacturer has tapped W.K. as the new face of its “Fresh + Sexy” wipes, designed for use by both men and women after sexual activity (maybe as a fun, postcoital bonding game?) And just like his job schlepping Taco Bell, W.K. couldn’t be prouder of being associated with sex napkins.
“Whether you just finished rocking a packed club or have an intimate encounter after a busy day, this product will make couples feel brand new,” W.K. said in a statement. “Fresh + Sexy Wipes were specially designed to help couples feel confidently clean, before and after they engage in sexual activity!”
As for why Playtex chose a guy who looks like he’s never bathed to represent a line of hygiene products, the company had this to offer:
This exciting new product required the help of someone who could embody the brand’s playful yet bold campaign; someone who could party hard, but still be clean when it counted,” a Playtex rep wrote in a statement. “Andrew W.K. is that someone and we are thrilled to have him on board with us for Fresh + Sexy Wipes.
W.K. will launch the product at a party during next week’s South by Southwest. In the meantime, check out W.K. in major need of some wipeage in the video for “Party Hard”.
