Mavis Staples enlists Jeff Tweedy for new album, One True Vine

Mavis Staples One True Vine

The legendary Mavis Staples previously recruited Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy to produce her 2010 album You Are Not Alone, and the two have since reunited for another go-around in the studio. On June 25th, ANTI- Records will release their latest collaboration, One True Vine.

Recorded at Wilco’s Loft in Chicago, the album spans 10 tracks and features Tweedy and his son Spencer (!) playing nearly every instrument.

The tracklist includes a cover versions of Low’s “Holy Ghost” from the Tweedy-produced The Invisible Way, in addition to Funkadelic’s “Can You Get to That” — which you can listen to it below. Tweedy and Nick Lowe also contributed original numbers to the album.

Hello there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having trouble finding one? Thanks a lot!

Wow that was strange. I just wrote an extremely long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyways, just wanted to say fantastic blog!
