Phoenix-General 1- Arnaud Potier

After having their music in Sophia Coppola movies and following a stint as Air’s backing band, Phoenix broke through to the mainstream with 2009’s colossal Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Lead-singer Thomas Mars married Coppola, and the band set their return for April 23rd with Bankrupt!. Now that they’ve got Coachella under their belt, they’ve officially reached headliner status. But it’s taken the band over a decade to climb to the top tier, so we looked back at 20 songs that got them here.

This list is way off. no doubt Rome should be on the list, if not top 5. love like a sunset should be up there too. consolation prizes as #2?

back end of the list looks pretty good, but I think you guys got it all wrong towards the top

Ughhhhhh you should really have somebody who knows something about Phoenix write an article like this. Where is “ROME”? I was expecting to see it at #1 honestly and had to look back to make sure I didn’t miss it. They close their tour with it and it’s so tragically beautiful. There’s no way ROME is not in the top 5 let a lone top 20.

it’s good to see 1901 at #1. sometimes it’s not worth it to be contrarian. sometimes the answer is obvious.
