Earlier today, Australia’s Triple J Radio aired a rare audio interview with Daft Punk. The duo spoke extensively about the “Get Lucky”, the lead single to their new album Random Access Memories, discussing its recording process and elaborating on its meaning. They said the song speaks for “the collective we,” designed to be “optimistic” and “celebratory” in a “world not so optimistic.”
Daft Punk also again confirmed reports they have no plans live as of yet, adding: “We spent five years working on this record… that’s really the first step by releasing it is we’d like to have people experience the record as the focal point.”
Finally, they were asked about their decision to host the global premiere in Wee Waa Australia. “It feels like [Australia] understands our music. It could be anywhere, that’s what the record is made for, anywhere and everywhere.”
