MGMT will keep fans on their toes next week with the release of a new song titled “Something to Do with Prince”. According to NME, the latest sure-to-be-a-psychedelic-jam will appear on a three-band split 7″ vinyl that includes an instrumental off Spacemen 3’s final studio album, 1991’s Recurring, in addition to a track by Australian prog rockers Spectrum. The Great Pop Supplement will issue the release, which will be pressed on green vinyl and come packaged in an octagonal sleeve designed by Spectrum’s Sonic Boom. Buyers must be savvy as supply will be limited to just 1,000 copies.

In related news, the band knocked out a few new tracks this week whilst on tour, specifically “Mystery Disease”“Your Life Is a Lie”, and their cover of Faine Jane’s 1968 anthem, “Introspection”, the latter of which you can watch below. All three cuts presumably will appear on their forthcoming third studio album, MGMT, set for release later this year.
