Glitch-hop producer Derek Vincent Smith (aka Pretty Lights) has teamed with LG Electronics to create the music video for his new single “Around The Block”. In the video, Smith makes use of LG’s IPS 21:9, UltraWide Monitors, which allows him to edit both audio and visual components simultaneously on an expansive screen. The scope of his control expands to the outside world, where the streets get distorted and tweaked, as if by some unknown force. It’s an intriguing symbiosis between man and machine, demonstrating the narrowing boundaries between the creator and his bag of tools.
“Around The Block” is off Smith’s new album, A Color Map of the Sun, which will be available July 7th. Pre-order it now on CD, vinyl, or digitally from his official website.
Designed with the digital artist in mind, the UltraWide monitor’s 29-inch, 21:9 aspect ratio screen enables users to work with several programs simultaneously, optimizing the mixing, editing, and creative processes. In addition, the 4-Screen Split feature divides the display into four segments so that simple customization is just a few simple clicks away. Lastly, the Dual Link-Up function caters to the multi-device requirements of many digital artists, as the sound mixer and recording device connect directly into the monitor.
